Validating and assuring valuable GTP data and roaming services with Evolver

GTP remains an essential component of mobile connectivity, data services, and roaming.

Despite its name, which really points to its long history, GPRS Tunnelling Protocol (GTP) remains a critical component of today’s mobile networks. Originally designed to carry GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) sessions, today, GTP is a suite of IP-based protocols that are essential for managing data sessions in mobile networks across every generation, from 2G (GSM) to 5G.

GTP works by encapsulating user data in ‘tunnels’, both within and between networks. As such, it’s essential for supporting seamless mobile data connectivity and user sessions, not only in home networks but also for roaming. As such, ensuring it performs as expected is essential - so testing, assuring, and actively monitoring GTP-based services is a critical, continuous activity. How can operators achieve this – and, where do they need to focus their attention?.
